Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Madison N — 07 Jul 2013
I thought that Hanks' character was one of the most multi-layered characters, gay or straight, in the history of cinema. He had his obsessions, attitudes, pleasures and pains. I also found Steenburgen's character refreshing.
Other than that, the movie was quite plain. I thought Nyswaner tried too hard to make lawyers sound highfalutin, but their speech just ended up sounding inhuman. I could have also done with fewer tourist shots of Philadelphia, thank you very much.
