Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Jacob W — 26 Aug 2009
Ive been told by more than one person that I am a homophobe. I have no problem with gay people but just like straight people I dont want them to be all in my face with their sexuality. This movie is about a gay man with AIDS that is wrongfully fired from his job and he decides to sew his old bosses.
This movie had me crying for pretty much the first minute it was on screen and not many movies can make me cry. (Forrest Gump, The Notebook, Lion King, and Slumdog Millionaire are the only movies with the honor of making me cry) I knew that Tom Hanks won an oscar for his role in this movie but since I never saw it for myself I never knew if it was well deserved or not.
I now know that it was definetely well deserved. I dont care if this movie is about a gay man or not this is a very powerful movie about a man standing up for himself and it is a sight that needs to be seen.
