Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Orlando N — 07 Oct 2009
Phenomenal.A realistic film about AIDS, homosexuality, homophobia, and prejudice in general.Hanks definitely earned his Oscar with his moving performance as Andrew Beckett.Washington was also excellent in his role, and it is a bit surprising that he was not nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
The other half of the emotion of the film comes from the brilliant score by Howard Shore. This is probably one of the most powerful and touching films I have ever seen.
