Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Boyd L — 08 Mar 2011
I wanted to like this film more than I did, but it missed out on greatness by being so full of Hollywood clichés.
Coming out soon after the death of Freddie Mercury, I think this film did something else though; it raised awareness of how damaging prejudice against a disease or sexuality can be, and helped reignite the debate which changed the situation politically for gay people and people living with HIV and AIDS in Europe.
