Review of Phat Girlz (2006) by Sharlynn P — 27 Mar 2008
Monique does a great job representing for all the larger, curvier women in America. She plays a woman who works in a "skinny" departmene store, trying to persuade her boss that they need to upgrade the plus size department.
Both her and friend go on a trip that she won from ordering diet pills, and while on that trip, they both gain inter-confidence after meeting some men that valued them for both their inner and outer beauty.
It's the Shallow Hal movie for females, basically. With her comedic input, this made the movie watchable. The only glitch that I found was how the film was shot. It seemed like a "B" movie, and the close-ups that were done on any character were a little bit too much.
Once you get past that, the movie is Ok.
