The story of a dress-maker is woven like such. Phantom Thread is a fairy-tale influenced romance, with three perfect characters. I saw myself slightly reflected in Woodcock, and while that may not be a good thing for myself, it shows how realistic Daniel Day-Lewis feels.

Syril serves as an excellent maternal figure, with constantly perfect comedic tension. Although Alma may be the least developed of the three, she is still a very captivating character, with a wonderful performance that is reminiscent of a traditional princess.

The cinematography is done so well that it appears each frame is a perfectly made photo. The score is also fantastic, strings and horn build upon each other, all meticulously controlled by Jonny Greenwood.

Costume design is, as expected, a standout, and the sound mixing is surprisingly well done. A wonderful story about ghosts of the past, and a picasso like characters relationship with them.
