Review of Phantom Thread (2017) by Jeff H — 02 Feb 2018
The costumes are gorgeous, the music is subtle, and the story once it comes around (and it takes a while) makes 'Phantom Thread' a thoroughly enjoyable picture. The music is in 90 of the film's 130 minutes and it is Jonny Greenwood's best`work.
Daniel Day-Lewis completely gives in to a tough roll. His work is magnificent. Lesley Manville and Day-Lewis have a unique chemistry. Vicky Krieps who is the love interest isn't getting the love from others and that surprises me. She reminds me of a cross between a young Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence. She's definitely a future star on the rise. I'm not in love with this but it's entertaining and beautiful and that's not all bad. Final Score: 8.3/10.
