Review of Phantom of the Opera (1943) by Roger T — 25 Apr 2010
An excellent film, but if you're looking for anything close to the Leroux novel, look elsewhere.
This film concentrates far more on the Opera rather than the Phantom. The movie has some beautiul music, classical turned opera. I particularly love the Lullaby of the Bells from the concerto Erique wrote.
Unfortunatly, Claude Rains was far too good of a Phantom to be on screen for so little.
And about the photo section on Flixster: What idiot put pictures from the 2004 Musical onto the 1943 movie?!
