Hunt for Red October, Crimson Tide, U571... Phantom? Ummmm.... No.
This is not in the elite of submarine movies. It started out pretty good. The premise was there, acting was spot on then, around 30 minutes from the end, it all fell apart for "Phantom"...
A combination of some terribly childish CG, cliches left right and center plus the most terrible ending ever combine to bring this film from a solid B+ to a D at best. Ed Harris is worth particular mention for a solid performance, and one scene that is hair raising.
Overall: disappointed. This could have been a good movie, was so close, then... FAIL!
