Review of Phantasm (1979) by Alan S — 04 May 2012
This isn't the kind of movie for everyone, but it was the kind of movie for me. Beautiful movie altogether, and it's obvious that Phantasm doesn't take itself terribly seriously, which is a quality that I love, personally.
The plot doesn't make perfect sense, but that is a blessing, since it adds to the horror and sense of dread and mystery. Artistically made, yet not artsy-fartsy, Phantasm established Don Coscarelli, director of Bubba Ho-Tep, as one of my favorite directors of all time.
