Review of Pet Sematary II (1992) by Vince F — 01 Jun 2008
A very weird, over stylish sequel that is a decent companion piece to 1. Although the substance doesn't measure up like the first one, the mean streak very abundant in one is here very much so, making it quite a queasy watch. Something about the gore and deaths are unsettling (potato truck and bike wheel are classic kills in my opinion), I loved that. The husky Zowie was a kick ass pissed off dog,he was as cool as Church. I'd like to see a chimp next time.
I love the directing in here, very colorful and morbid, I also like how basically anything can die, kids and cute animals and more. Very unconventional approach to a rather one dimensional script that makes it all the more enjoyable with every viewing.
Not very scary, but trashy, violent, entertaining, gross, cool 5.1 audio, crazy undead baddie Gus (though no Gage Creed), and I really liked one character enough which was the Amanda Gilbert character.
At times it has some "wtf" moments, like the ending with with all the heavy handedness and very weak characters and some tasteless songs, but I can't help but love this as I'm a HUGE fan of one.
