Review of Personal Shopper (2016) by Kevin A — 19 Mar 2017
Is this a murder mystery? A ghost story? A meditation on the loss of a twin sibling? This film doesn't know. Starring Kristen (couldn't fill a B cup) Stewart as Maureen, she is grieving the untimely death of her twin brother Lewis.
She finds herself in an abandoned possibly haunted house, she hangs out in hopes of connecting with a spirit, her brother Lewis perhaps? She works for a jet setting high fashion somebody and is her personal shopper for clothes, jewelry, you name it.
She is tempted to try on the haute couture, but is scared and ashamed to do so. Kristen finds a number of reasons to get undressed and prance around topless (not sexy at all), but that's no reason to see this film.
The sound effects for the spirit world are overdone and clumsy. The whole film is a clumsy mess with a murky story that chases its own tail and tale.
