Review of Personal Shopper (2016) by Matt G — 06 Apr 2017
I'm convinced Olivier Assayas can turn any story and group of characters into, at the very least, an entertaining two hours. This is no exception. Every scene in this feels crucial to the thematic conversation, though I wouldn't describe it as "tightly written.
" Stewart has a way of hypnotically internalizing her character. The final scene may be a bit too blatantly ambiguous, but I forgive it. Excellent balance of genre subversion, tense atmosphere, and character study.
