Review of Persona (1966) by Curtis F — 31 Mar 2008
Wow. Easily the best Bergman film I've ever seen and maybe one I the best films I have ever seen, albeit it still hasn't sunk in fully. There are images of such profound beauty and horror and discussions beyond my scope of mind that I don't even know where to start.
After one of the best opening montages to start a film ever, the film then goes into to explore everything ranging from the self, the duality in a nature and life, and even an exploration of the film medium itself.
You could watch this movie for a lifetime and just develop more questions and theories on the meaning of it and possibly never find any answers. And that's the beauty of this film. Watch it.
