Review of Persona (1966) by Darryl J — 07 May 2008
Ingmar Bergman. What the fuck.
You were such a genius.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this movie. I know the gist of it but in movies like this it's always the little things that plague my mind. I'm not gonna go into the plot because I have to see it again before I could even begin to explain it.
Ingmar Bergman was such a cinematic visionary. This is one of the most hypnotic films I've seen. From the extremely jarring opening sequence to the famous monologues, I was breathless. The cinematography was stunning from start to finish. Bibi Andersson gives one of my favorite performances ever. I couldn't take my eyes off her. What an experience.
