Review of Persona (1966) by Peter F — 30 Jun 2012
Ingmar Bergman said his film Persona "touched wordless secrets that only the cinema could discover," and perhaps that's the reason why the film has had such a huge international impact. The surreal yet tightly wound narrative can't be rivaled by any other psycho-drama, and the imagery showcase minimalist art at it's finest.
It's hard to imagine the best work of David Lynch, Woody Allen or Lars von Trier existing, if not for the blatant influence from Persona. Not just Ingmar Bergman's masterpiece, but the quintessential "weird" movie since 1966.
