Review of Persecuted (2014) by Bob S — 27 Jul 2014
Persecuted won't be universally liked. It exposes hypocrisy both inside and outside of the Church. That's what got Jesus Christ crucified. We finally went to see Persecuted. It was done well. Gretchen was great.
There were no hokey on unnatural scenes or lines. Everything was realistic. I can see where some parts of society would become paranoid about this movie. It really exposes the weakness of human nature and echoes many of the problems in American Church and society.
This kind of thing can be very disturbing to the people who are exposed. Particularly obvious was the problem of Christians who were not being led by the Holy Spirit. Persecuted shows the problem of entertainment in the Church, the problem of those who have not been sent by God but they went anyway, and the corporate coldness aspect that has crept into the Church.
The film shows the pride and money that so easily corrupt Christian organizations. In addition, the film exposes the hypocrisy of false "Christian" politicians along with the anti-Christian hate that is currently roiling just below the surface.
Many of the lines were pulled out of present-day speeches. The film shows the danger that the United States is now in regarding religious liberty. It echoes many of the recent court cases and legislative actions against freedom of religion.
All in all, an excellent movie. Everyone should see this film.
