Review of Perrier's Bounty (2009) by Andy W — 06 Sep 2010
A mixed bag which results in an Irish "Big Lebowski" as if it were written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The dialogue is funny at times, but its the performances that really lift it - all the leads excell in their roles, with Jim Broadbent playing totally against type and all the better for it.
What lets the film down is the lack of a cohesive plot: It zips along, going in circles a few times, but it never really adds up to much. Had all the ideas been honed and less scatter-shot, it could have been a cult classic.
It reminded me at tims as a wannabe "In Bruges", but doesn't have the focus to hit those heights. As it is, its mostly fun whilst it lasts, but its a little hollow.
