Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Maria S — 15 Feb 2011
Having a hard time to explain why do I like this film. When I put a movie to my list of favorites, than I feel obligated to explain why do I like it. And now I'm stuck with this one.
First, I was enchant by18th-century France , but the poor, and dirty one... And than this young man, (Ben Whishaw was great), who grow up in almost animal-environment,illiterate, but with unique talents turns in to a person that is sufficiently realistic to be aware that he is a murderer, and yet so carried away by his talent and obsession, that just ignores it until he reaches his goal. In the end of the story, naturally, we all have old lame moral lesson, that in desperate march to the goal, he missed the important things on the way.
But, it's a good movie, nevertheless.
