Yes, it is dated as many film classics are, but for its time it was radical, and it still offers rewards in its depicition of psychedelic thought and experience, and notions of identity, and contains probably one of the best pre-MTV videos ever conceived, "Memo from Turner", which pokes sheer fun at the repressed homosexuality fueling brute force and gangster life.
