Review of Perfect Sense (2011) by Phil H — 30 Jan 2012
Well this was a different take on the apocalyptic outbreak of a virus that attacks your basic senses one by one. It's all very well being different but it's so bleak, dreary & uninteresting that it doesn't entertan in the slightest.
We have Michael & Susan(McGregor & Green), one is a chef the other an epidemiologist, the latter discovering that humankind is being effected globally by an unknown virus.
The two meet & inevitably fall in love. As this happens the effects & syptoms of the virus worsen, taking the senses one by one starting with smell & then taste.
Intitially the population adopts a life goes on policy & tries to live as normally as possible but as it goes on this becomes increasingly difficult.
Ok so it's not Resident Evil. It's actually quite barmy, particiularly the moments leading up to the loss of taste. But other than that it is just quite dull. A strong cast alongside the leads including Lawson, Dillane, Bremner & Nielsen seem almost bored by the whole thing and this really rubs off on the viewer. The leads themselves are neither here nor there. Almost like they're just keeping up appearances for the smaller UK film.
Just dour & dull. The longest 85 minutes spent in a while.
