In simply terms, Perfect Sense was a powerful movie. A love story that delves into the idea of what it would be like to lose all your senses. Both deeply depressing, hopeful, disgusting, and beautiful, I think this movie really encapsulates the human experience.

Often in our high speed, highly volatile, consumer world, our senses dull. Everyone forgets how lucky we are to smell, and taste, and hear, and see. We have jobs, and we do them. Some people like them, some people do not. But we often feel like cogs in a wheel and forget the importance of what it means to be a part of a functioning society. I think Perfect Sense was a shocking reminder of all that we have as humans, and all that we can stand to lose. We don't have to smell, to taste, and to hear to function, but what a shame if we don't take advantage and feel gratitude for the fact that we do!

The film also reminds us that although these senses feel important, society can still keep running without them. People can keep running with out them. Suddenly when one sense is lost, a great gratitude for what is left emerges. People place importance on things that they feel deserve importance. People love more deeply, and see their jobs as more important. People show empathy, people laugh, people cry, people fear. But the world keeps turning until the very end.

This movie was beautiful and reminded me of why I love movies in general, why I feel they are so important. Its easy to go by through life and forget things that should be remembered. Movies offer us that reminder. They tell us "hey! Don't forget to tell your mom you love her!" "Hey! Theres a genocide happening you should help!" "hey! Some people are struggling and you don't even know it!". If your looking for a movie with a message, a movie to think about for a long time that really gives you perspective on being human and being alive, then this is the movie for you.
