Review of Perfect Sense (2011) by Stephie C — 15 May 2012
Really interesting 'end-of-the-world' idea. Chilling and somewhat romantic, but I don't think the film achieved everything it set out to do. Eva Green and Ewan McGregor are excellent, and their relationship is entirely believable. They're not desperately in love, but they are drawn to each other for comfort and understanding when there is nothing and no-one else left for them. Real relationships are more like this than that whole 'kissing in the rain' thing. Their love in this situation comes out of circumstance, convenience and the need for comfort during the end of the world.
It's a decent movie and a really great concept, but I would have liked to see someone with more vision behind it.
