Review of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) by James R — 28 Dec 2014
A mostly forgotten sequel to The Lightning Thief (2010) this time around finds Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario), and Grover (Brandon T Jackson) searching for the Golden Fleece which has the power to heal anything that it touches.
The tree that guards their camp and training ground is poisoned, so they along with Percy's half brother Tyson (Douglas Smith) must journey to find the Fleece. Along the way they discover a plot to resurrect Chronos which would lead to the end of the world.
They even discover an old foe from the first film may be behind all that has been going wrong. Overall, I enjoy these films. They don't have the best graphics or CGI, but the story has some heart to it.
It's a modernization of a lot of Greek and Roman religious stories, but tells them in some pretty unique ways. Overall, it won't be for everyone, but if you liked the first one take a look at this one.
