Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Paul K — 07 Aug 2013
This plot had so much potential to be the next Harry Potter before Hunger Games and before this director and writer destroyed this story. From a movie stand point there was not even any main character build up let alone a single side character.
The movie jumped from scene to scene with poor transition. Next comes the book to the movie. This book had huge potential that was never realized by this movie. Major scenes and characters were ripped from the movie and not just taken out but replaced with other scenes that weren't even in the book.
This movie could of easily been an hour longer which would've help fully grasp the understanding, plot, and meaning of this greek mythology story. But it was lost is cheap animation, a noticeable lack in budget and talent.
It's understood that a movie can match a book completely, especially with personal imagination at play, but this movie was so off that I feel for the people that enjoyed it.
