Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Wut S — 21 Aug 2007
I wrote a psychoanalytic paper on Peeping Tom for a Contemporary film theory class I took in 2005. While I did not find the film as complex as the critics claimed, it's responsible for sparking my interest in psychoanalysis theories.
Lacan's Mirror theory, Freud's Oedipal Complex, Mulvey's subjectivity, Metz's semiotics... though I wasn't too excited about the role of audience as both the voyeur/murderer and the female objectivity, I definitely gained a lot of knowledge by studying the theoretical impact of Peeping Tom.
