Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Martin T — 11 Oct 2009
Innovative and shocking for its time. Peeping Tom is actually a pretty fantastic character study and does a great job of creating sympathy for a murderous character.
Mark Lewis is a complicated man with strange desires, a great character who, despite the despicable acts he commits actually wants to change. Once he finds the right woman.
The camera work is great, really capturing the voyeuristic nature of Lewis and the music and performances really get across the urgencies especially in scenes where Mark is trying to fight his urges.
A classic thriller that did a lot to push the genre forward.
