Pee-Wee Herman is terrifying. I can't believe he was ever allowed a children's television show. Then again, these days we have shows with talking tools and backpacks, so who am I to judge?
Heartfelt, and enjoyable, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is a poke at family fun films in a way that only Tim Burton could do it. I miss his old style of directing, although I am still a fan of his new work, nothing can top the subtle darkness of his early films.
