Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Bradley W — 15 Mar 2012
Pee-wee's Big Adventure is a hilarious classic film that lives up to be one of Tim Burton's strangest and actually best films. The key to that makes this film so good is that one of the strangest performances I have ever seen comes from Paul Reubens, who plays the fun loving, child like, and at times annoying Pee-wee Herman who used to be a household name.
He is very likable with how goofy and weird he is and it is almost 100% because of the hilarious Paul Reubens. As for the story this is a fun road trip film with strange characters that are memorable but not as memorable as our lovable hero.
My main problem with the film however was that I was never sure if Pee-wee was a kids thing or more for adults but it seems to be hitting both areas with this film and I am not sure if that is a good mix.
But regardless, this film stands as one of the best comedies you will ever see espically if you are familiar with this character and all the joy and laughter he used to bring people.
