"Go ahead and scream your head off! We're miles from where anyone can hear you!".
Director: Tim Burton.
Starring: Paul Reubens, Elizabeth Daily, Mark Holton, Diane Salinger.
Running time: 90 minutes.
Country: USA.
Pee Wees Big Adventure is a good start to Tim Burtons films. This film is just really funny. It is a film that a lot of people hate because of its bright attracting characters that are really delightful but I do find that not really relevant. I thought it was quite funny because of the silly character that is Pee Wee Herman. I thought at first that I wouldnt like it because it was a film from Tim Burton with extremely bizarre and pathetic characters. Paul Reubens delivers a performance that is funny but is pretty crap really because of the stupid ridiculous character. I did laugh at some bits from him but it was mostly the way the film was handled and what the actors in the film were really like. It is quite a sad character really because he looks like a man but has the personality of a little child which isnt what Tim Burton is like.
I do think that Paul Reubens would have been worth a Razzie nomination in this film. I think that all the acting from the whole cast was absolutely appauling. The direction from Tim Burton was quite good actually despite of how bad people say it is. It is said to be his worst film but I dont agree with that. However, it isnt anywhere near his best neither.
The direction was very different compared to the other Burton films but it was what people got the impression of Tim when this film was released and also it is the first feature film that he had directed. The script was undescribable really because it was really lame at times but then in some scenes, it was quite interesting. This film isnt similar to any other Tim Burton film but it is mostly similar to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory because of the bright style and the very creative and colorful designs used within the film. I find that Pee Wees bike is like Willy Wonkas chocolate because they are like obsessions to the characters. This film was a decent start to Tim Burton films. But, I do feel that Beetlejuice is the ultimate start to great Burton films. This isnt Tims worst film. His worst ones are Mars Attacks! and Planet Of The Apes. Pee Wees Big Adventure isnt half as good as other Tim Burton films like Ed Wood, Corpse Bride, Batman Returns, Beetlejuice, Batman, Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. Pee Wees Big Adventure is a decent Tim Burton film that does need to be remembered as a funny comedy.
