Review of Pearl Harbor (2001) by Matt B — 25 May 2015
I know exactly what Michael Bay is trying to do in Pearl Harbor: he's trying to pay homage to the old black and white war/romance epics a la From Here to Eternity. And you know what? I'm OK with it.
Yes, it has a lot of eye-rolling moments, but don't all the old sappy romance movies do too? The best thing about the movie is the war sequences. They're absolutely magnificent, namely the titular bombing sequence.
Truly eye-popping.
