Review of Peaceful Warrior (2006) by Laurin S — 07 Jul 2008
No, this movie was not perfectly done. The fact that the film is a definite "message movieâ?? is made painfully too obvious at times. The first thing that helped me forget that flaw however was the cinematography. From beginning to end this movie has some strong and beautiful imagery that sustains you through the sometimes-corny dialogue and unbelievable situations. The message, in this â??message movieâ?? is successfully open to interpretation. All different kinds of people can get some really great and different insights out of this movie based on where they are coming from in their own lives. To me, that is one of the definitions of a successful attempt at sharing your art.
Nick Nolte as Zen Master was charming and gruff as usual. The kid was powerful and believable. Overall the film had a corny air to it, but the ideas underneath were definitely worthwhile.
