Review of Payback (1999) by Frank K — 25 Jul 2010
A vengeance movie that is not so much about a plot, but more about the person living (or in this case trapped) inside of it.
Only Mel Gibson could play such a daring role to the limit, and he makes every scene count for all it's worth. His constant presence may overshadow the potential of the other characters who are mostly just there to be killed, but it's the sheer depth of Gibson's personality that keeps the film rolling as he embodies the ego if a man who is already defeated, and left with nothing more to lose.
