Review of Paul Williams Still Alive (2011) by Whit W — 26 Jan 2013
This is an odd but wonderful documentary about the singer/song-writer. The filmmaker, despite being a huge fan of the subject, is kind of an unprofessional douche, and you can see Paul getting irritated with him a number of times, but ultimately they form some kind of respect/friendship over the 2 years that they worked together.
As a little kid, I always loved seeing Paul Williams on TV, and there always was something sad about him having disappeared altogether, so it's comforting, along with the myriad clips from various popular 70s shows that take you right back, to know that after a lot of bad times - drugs, booze, yada yada - he's come up the other side.
