Review of Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (2015) by Dwight K — 19 Apr 2015
It's a bad day to be bad people.
Last we saw Paul he was a hero, with a daughter, that found the love of his life; unfortunately, his marriage lasted six days where his bride came to her senses, divorced him, and completely ruins Paul's confidence. Now his daughter is about to head to college and he doesn't even know she has been accepted to UCLA (they reside in Jersey). He has been invited to a convention in Las Vegas where he bring his daughter to bond with her one last time before she leaves for college. Will his daughter find a good time to break the news to him about UCLA and how will that affect their relationship?
"Is that your dad?".
"Wish I could say no.".
Andy Fickman, director of She's the Man, The Game Plan, The Race to Witch Mountain (2009), Parental Guidance, and You Again, delivers Paul Blart 2. The storyline for this picture is very uneven but does have some good father/daughter moments and contains a couple chuckles. The crime story in Vegas was ridiculous and the acting was as you'd expect for the comedic genre (just okay). The cast includes Kevin James, Raini Rodriguez, Daniella Alonso, Eduardo Verastegui, and Neal McDonough.
"My parents were thrilled when I got my GED.".
We saw this at the drive-in movies last weekend. We didn't have too many ambitions to see this, and I will admit it was okay, but the subplot between father and daughter worked for me over the primary storyline. Overall, this is a below average picture that is only worth watching on cable if you can't find anything else to watch.
"Give the fake cop a hug.".
Grade: C-.
