The negative reviews say more about the reviewers than the movie. If you are scripturally literate it is a phenomenal film. I could see where an atheist or someone who had no real understanding of the Christian faith may not enjoy it.
There is a lot that will just shoot completely over their head. (from fragments of scriptures sprinkled throughout the dialog to understanding the motivation behind the plot and direction of the story) If you are a mature Christian.
....it delivered everything you hoped it would. Well done.
