George C. Scott as Patton must represent the greatest synergy between actor and subject matter that film has ever seen. The film itself is occasionally lacking in sophistication and - oddly enough for a 3-hour long film - is sometimes deficient in simple exposition.

During battle sequences, it is often difficult to tell what exactly is happening. But these minor issues take a back seat to the performance of Scott, whose image and voice will forever come to mind whenever someone mentions General Patton.

This review of Patton (1970) was written by on 11 Apr 2011.

Patton has generally received very positive reviews.
