Patton doesn't feel like a three-hour movie, which is saying something. This is a very well-made film. George C. Scott's portrayal of the famous general is mesmerizing, and the story of this complicated hero set against the backdrop of World War II is compelling.
I might actually agree with the Academy on this Best Picture winner.
