Review of Patton (1970) by Chiek E — 18 Jul 2014
Super long movie celebrating USA's gungho 3 star general Patton and his egotism. For the price of his madness and victory over the nazis, countless soldiers died unnecessarily. Pushing ahead his soldiers and tanks in a protracted war without getting resupply was madness and suicide.
Despite his many victories and war decorations, Patton arrived at the most important conclusion. Glories are fleeting. Just as King Solomon concluded that all things are vain except for the glory of God.
This was at the end when he had tasted all forms of earthly temptations and pleasures.
