Review of Patton (1970) by David L — 24 Dec 2014
George C. Scott is Patton. I haven't seen a lot of footage of the real man and I don't really want to because I would be afraid that it would pail in comparison to the intensity of this performance.
Of course, it helps that most of his dialogue seems to be made up of a series of "best of" quotes which helps the entertainment value of the film, but also hurts it's realism. Also, the battle scenes may have been mind blowing at the time, they are pretty tame by today's standards.
But in the end that doesn't matter because this film is about the man himself, and it is absolutely amazing all the things that happened in his life in the little less than three years that this film covers.
