Review of Patriots Day (2016) by Matt B — 27 Mar 2017

I really don't know what the critics liked about this film. it was extremely generic and lost my interest. the story was predicable yes it is based on actual events but the way it unfolds wasn'tâ< creative.

once again mark Wahlberg stars in another film directed by Peter Berg. I feel like Berg has to expand his career as a director because his last three films ( all staring Mark Wahlberg) are pretty much the same thing although they are about different tragic events they still were films staring the same actor about tragic events.

this just shows me Berg is afraid to expand and is just playing it safe. well audiences have spoken buddy. only one of the 3 films have been successful domestically. both deep water and this film failed to make an impact at the box office both barely making the budgets back.

Mr. Berg, maybe this is a sign to try something else because Patriots Day was less than amusing and had no business being made into a film about the tragic bombing. or maybe he will ignore the numbers and his next film will star Mark Wahlberg playing a train conductor in London.

I wouldn't be surprised. if u do recast mark who at this point obviously is ur muse put him in a role which is unpredictable in a film that is original or at least bases on a novel. stop it with these historically tragic events.

Berg is a great director but as of late his ideas seen lazy and uninspired take a risk on an original idea and tell the audience a story they won't find by googling old news headlines on CNN.
