"Paths of Glory is a wonderful early acheivment of Stanley Kubrick. Already Kubrick takes unconventional turns in this film, especially in its cinematography. One of the first scenes is a brilliant shot that follows the General through the trench in a single take.
No one but Kubrick could acheive this mastery of camera technique. The way Kubrick handles the tragic story beautifully--the final scene is proof enough of his adept storytelling.
