Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Donald M — 15 Nov 2008
Kubrick's first materpiece is a scathing indictment about the cruelty of trench warfare. The Frog's banned it for years.Soldiers being shot for cowardice because of top brass whimsy of gaining a few yards.
..the over-the-top scenes...the poor sod having to be woken out of unconciousness only for the firing squad...your men have skimmed milk in their veins...the end song by the future Mrs Kubrick.
