Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Marlon O — 16 Jun 2010
Paths of Glory consists of some of the most intense and suspenseful sequences in movie history. The scene where the soldiers are being escorted to be executed is incredibly tense, it is nearly impossible to take your eyes off of the screen, you wonder to yourself is Dax gonna save them? are they gonna get away. And the outcome leaves you breathless because you were breathing so fast during the escort. I was fairly impressed with the acting it was solid and not over the top, the actors played the parts the way they should have been played. for 1957 the camera work is absolutely extraordinary. The story is short and to the point. It doesn't try to be an overdone epic so there aren't any melodramatic scenes. overall it's a movie about human beings, and how power can drive people to do insane things.
Great Movie.
