Review of Pather Panchali (1955) by Ian I — 17 Sep 2007
100% beautiful. I hear the word "slow" used a lot to describe this, which is odd. I didn't find it the least bit boring. Apu reminded me of the little girls in Spirit of the Beehive, mostly because his eyes were able to carry the same sense of sibling love.
The scene where he hurls the necklace into the pond is so quick and understated, but it's one of my favorite movie moments of all time.
