1/3 through the movie I noticed that this is a remake of a French film that already didn't work well: Here, too, overdrawn situations and overblown acting made a drama ridiculous that COULD work, if it had just been done more subtly.
De Palma's film tops those mistakes: Now dialogues, situations and acting are worse ... stiff to an extent that you believe Palma was forced to use first, unrehearsed takes only. Visually, too, it looks like a movie from the 80ies.
