Review of Passengers (2016) by Andrew J — 13 Sep 2017
This movie was a little underrated by some critics in my opinion. It was an engaging film with interesting character choices and outcomes. Yes, there are convenient moral redemptions, but the film does set this up from the very beginning.
You'll know what I mean if you see it. This movie features a very small cast of interesting to watch actors, fun sci-fi elements and successfully delivered themes of despair, ultimate disappointment and redemption.
It's in the "Life is Beautiful" vein of let's make the best of things, though much more light-hearted. IMHO the only massive gaff comes during the last 1 minuet where the director cheesily & unnecessarily wraps with a goofy, out of context one-liner & embarrassingly hokey end credits song.
