Review of Party Monster (2003) by Chelsea D — 19 Oct 2007
This film kind of reminded me of the romans. The whole concept of a person building up an entire empire and becoming really well known as an idol and a leader before letting it all go to his head has been told in all sorts of ancient stories.
The film is based on the book by James St. James entitled DISCO BLOODBATH, in which Michael Alig becomes a world famous club kid and party promoter before becoming a drug addict and a murderer. It's the story of a fallen empire told in an 80s/90s setting.
really well acted. The look of the film itself is totally haunting.
