Review of Parts: The Clonus Horror (1979) by Private U — 12 Nov 2007
I've always believed that instead of constantly remaking good films, Hollywood should focus on mediocre films with promising ideas that were not executed well - and that is exactly what "The Island" did with this obscure oddity.
Actually, while "remake" probably isn't the right word (since the makers of this launched a copyright infringement lawsuit), this film's low budget, mediocre acting and ridiculous plot holes (why is the so-called secret cloning facility located about a mile outside a big city?) prove that Michael Bay's mega-budget excess is better suited to the premise.
Obviously, there a lot more explosions in "The Island", but the one explosion this film DOES have is so random and unexpected that it's a hell of a lot funnier.
