Review of Parts: The Clonus Horror (1979) by Evan H — 11 Aug 2009
This is a film which says that growing clones for body parts is wrong. The problem is that it takes 90 minutes to say it, and even if it said it as early as 1979, eighteen years before Dolly, that doesn't justify spending an hour and a half of your 2009 time listening to it. There are still professional reviewers around who think that it is the kind of film that "makes you think", but as for me, I wouldn't say that the kind of activity it elicited in my own brain would qualify as thought. It felt closer to dozing off. The film could have been subtitled "Escape from Idiocracy" rather than "The Clonus Horror." It didn't even stir my interest in Milwaukee.
The MST3K commentary overdid the "Biography" running joke about Peter Graves, but contained some fine moments, especially in the operation scene: "Thank you nurse for this nice aria"; "Oh! Sperm races!" and "They took the blood out of his right arm and put it into his left arm.".
The added sound effects in the chase scene were great too.
